Wednesday Catch Up

1.  We've been working this Spring on our landscaping.  We had to build up the area around our house at least 6-8 inches, and because we're still on our homeowner honeymoon, we decided to do it ourselves.  8 weekends later, we still have one side of the house to do and we may not complete it this year because we've discovered that we hate this crap.  But man, it looks good!

2.  We are ridiculously, deliriously, completely and utterly thankful to my father-in-law, who worked like a Man On A Mission each time he came over to assist.  Thank you, also, to my mother-in-law for watching Ollie, Chris for the hard work that he gave us by picking up rocks and watching over Ollie, Nick for helping Doug build the front steps, and Jamie for rebuilding our deck!  It was HARD WORK!  Thank you, all!

Chris and O watching Daddy jackhammer the steps.

Nick, the Twin Cities Everyman, helping to build our front steps.

Lest we forget our little handyman supervisor:

Who relaxed on the job way to often for my tastes.

 Fun to be filthy!

But happy to be done!

3.  Mother's Day was awesome.  My gents gave me breakfast in bed on Saturday and cards, brunch and a hammock on Sunday.  Then my sister's family came over for a BBQ.  Couldn't have asked for more!

Wait - who's relaxing day is it?  :)

Playing with the kiddos...

Bedtime prayers...

 4.  Father's Day wasn't that memorable, I don't think.  Poor Doug has been working so hard, and with all the rain we've gotten (and the deluge we received in the basement despite all the work we did), he hasn't been sleeping well.  All he wanted was a nap, and all Ollie could give him was a day of loud and cranky.  At least he got a tie and some delicious BBQ out of the deal.

5.  Now that we can enjoy our landscaping, Summer means deck sitting, making strawberry shortcake, eating summer foods, napping, finding new and old friends and swimming with our besties!

Rabbit hutch in the base of our tree!

It's so fun when Justin comes home!

6.  It also means big kid things like riding on daddy's old trike, showering instead of bathing and going to his first movie!

Why in the world would you ride a trike without gardening gloves ("mittens")?

We saw "How To Train Your Dragon" at the Mall of America!  Doug bought way too much popcorn, spilled 3/4 of it and Ollie fell asleep.  :)

7.  It also means attending PRESCHOOL!  Big shot!

First day of Preschool - June 9th!

8.  Latest favorite sayings:

     "Hmmm, something's missing about this....Ah-HA!"
     "That's not OK!"
     "Leave me 'lone!"
     "This is the [cool] thing [I] ever seen, Mama!"
     "We never done this in a while!"

9.  Other Quotable Ollie-isms:

     First time eating at Taco Bell: "I don't like this ques-idea, Mama."
     Standing up in the bathtub: "Where's my penis, Mama?"  "Right!" (slap) "Here!" (slap)
     Watching a movie with Mama: "Naw...I wanna watch something in-resting."

     Restaurant = "ressernaut"
     Umbrella = "burnella"
     Traffic cones = "pine cones"
     Wink = "eye winkle"

10.  Newest way of asking for something: "Mama?  Someday I'm gonna get Spukada Me (Despicable Me toys) so I can play with them.  Okay, Mama?"

11.  Two notable conversations with Ollie:

Me: "Wow!  Look at that deer, Ollie!"
Ollie: "Wow, Mama!  That deer has deer sticks on his head!"
Me:  "Those are antlers, Ollie."
Ollie: "Antlers!  You're right, Mama.
SILENCE
Ollie: "But they're deer sticks, Mama.  Not antlers."

Ollie: "Where's Daddy?"
Me: "He's watching the soccer game, remember?"
Ollie: "Oh.  Someday I go to game with Daddy!"
Me: "Remember when you went to the football game with Daddy?"
Ollie: "Yeah.  It was loud.  And Daddy yell, 'Go, [B]ikings!' and everyone yell, 'Hooray!  Hooray!'"
Me: "Yup."
Ollie: "At soccer game, Daddy yell, 'Go soccer mans!  Go soccer mans!'"

 12.  Now if only O would stop drawing on the furniture, he'd be my most favorite ever.

Eh, he already is.  :)
